Mohawk Site Awards
The table below provides a brief overview of the awards available to Mohawk Site nursing students. Some awards require applications, some require nominations and other awards are based on academic achievement. The process to nominate / apply for the award is listed under the award description and where appropriate a link is provided. While a call for nominations will occur at the end of each term, faculty and students are able to nominate students at any time during the academic year. The awards have been grouped by level of student, but please refer to the award description.

Recognition awards have replaced the traditional book awards and are used to recognize students in any level for outstanding contributions within the BScN program that may not fit into the established nursing awards. |

Elizabeth Foley Memorial Award |
$100 |
The Elizabeth Foley Memorial award is given to a student who has shown excellent clinical performance in the first year of the BScN program and has demonstrated exceptional achievements. |
IODE Princess Marina Chapter Award |
$100 |
This scholarship is awarded to a student with the highest first year grades who has demonstrated outstanding general proficiency and exceptional achievements. (No nomination required) |

Brenda and Susan Turvey Scholarship |
$500 |
The recipient of this award is in good academic standing in clinical practice. The student has a demonstrated compassion and high regard for individual dignity, and has also demonstrated exceptional achievements. |
Cathy Flis Memorial Award |
$150 |
The Cathy Flis Memorial Award is awarded to a BScN student who excels at caring and compassion in the clinical setting and has a proven high academic standing. |
Elizabeth Maus Award |
$200 |
Awarded to 3 students, who have demonstrated excellence in both theory and nursing practice. The recipients must also have demonstrated exceptional achievements. |
Gladys Irene Daniels Memorial Award |
$100 |
The Elizabeth Foley Memorial award is given to a student who has shown excellent clinical performance in the first year of the BScN program and has demonstrated exceptional achievements. |
Joyce Griffin Award |
$50 |
This bursary is awarded to a student with excellent academic standing and who has demonstrated exceptional achievements. (No nomination required) |
Krista Lynn Cantwell Memorial Award |
$1000 |
The recipient of this award is an active volunteer with demonstrated academic diligence and a passion for nursing. The student must also have demonstrated compassion for others, particularly “the underdog”, and have exhibited leadership qualities in their willingness to lend a hand wherever needed. The criteria established by Krista’s parents are in keeping with the fundamental qualities which Krista displayed throughout her life. |
Krista Lynn Cantwell Memorial OTSS Award |
$500 |
This award is given to a student who has shown academic diligence, a passion for nursing and who has been an active volunteer. Consideration is given to those who have been Ontario residents for a minimum of 12 months, have a financial need and are in good academic standing. (No nomination required) |
Martha Dawn Murray Award |
$500 |
The recipient of the award has demonstrated consistent exemplary care for patients and their families and has shown the ability to nurse with compassion, empathy and understanding. Consideration will be given to those who have demonstrated exceptional achievements. |
Mohawk College Alumni Association Award - OSOTF |
$1000 |
This award is given to students who have demonstrated high academic achievement and are involved in extracurricular activities. Consideration will be given to Canadian citizens or landed immigrants who have been residents of Ontario for a minimum of 12 months. |
Nursing Faculty Clinical Performance Award - BScN |

The recipient of this award is a BScN student who has demonstrated excellent clinical performance, community involvement and has above average academic standing. |

This scholarship is awarded to a student who has demonstrated excellence in the clinical area of psychiatry. |
Wilda Pinkney Memorial Award |
$300 |
The Wilda Pinkney Memorial award is given to 3 students who have demonstrated consistent growth and proficiency in the BScN program, have an above-average level of clinical practice and academic performance. The recipients must have demonstrated excellent performance in theory and practical experience, as well as exceptional achievements. |
Zonta Club of Hamilton - Helen Sweet Award |

This scholarship is awarded to a female student who has shown high academic excellence, citizenship, athletic ability and financial need. Consideration is given to those who have demonstrated exceptional achievements. (No nomination required) |

Awarded to a graduating student who demonstrates professional development through participation in professional Nursing Student Association Activities. The student is a student member of R.N.A.O. and participates in community based activities. |
Guelph General Hospital Auxilliary Award |

Awarded to a full time, graduating student who is a resident of Waterloo-Wellington region and achieves the highest academic standing. |
