Conestoga Site Awards
The table below provides a brief overview of the awards available to Conestoga Site nursing students. Some awards require applications, some require nominations and other awards are based on academic achievement. The process to nominate / apply for the award is listed under the award description and where appropriate a link is provided. While a call for nominations will occur at the end of each term, faculty and students are able to nominate students at any time during the academic year. The awards have been grouped by level of student, but please refer to the award description.

Recognition awards have replaced the traditional book awards and are used to recognize students in any level for outstanding contributions within the BScN program that may not fit into the established nursing awards. |

The Ardelle Darling Memorial Award |
$250 |
Awarded to a second year student who demonstrates caring and compassion to patients and peers, communicates effectively and demonstrates an enthusiasm for the profession of nursing. |
The Lillian Brown Nursing Award for Academic/Clinical Achievement |
$500 |
Awarded to a second year student who demonstrated initiative, care, and compassion in clinical practice. |

Homewood Foundation Scholarship in Psychiatric Nursing |
$1000 |
Awarded to a student after the 2nd or 3rd year who exhibits an interest in psychiatric nursing and is or will be completing a mental health placement. First preference is given to the son or daughter of an employee within the Homewood Corporation. |
St. Mary’s General Hospital Educational Award for Continuing Education |
$250 |
Awarded to a graduating student who is able to apply theory to clinical practice in a competent manner, demonstrates interest in postgraduate studies and obtains a high level of achievement in theory (B+ or greater). |
RNAO Waterloo Chapter Leadership Award |
$200 plus One year free membership to RNAO |
Awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated leadership or professional initiative on behalf of patient care and / or the nursing profession. |
Jean O'Leavy Award for Excellence in Nursing |

Awarded to a graduating student who demonstrated high ability to apply theory to clinical practice,consistent personal and professional growth, and high academic achievement (A range). |
Dr. Stanley F. Leavine Memorial Award |

Awarded to a graduating student who demonstrated high ability to apply theory to clinical practice, consistent personal and professional growth, and high academic achievement (A range). |
Judy Cooper Memorial Award |
$200 & Plaque |
Awarded to a graduating student who demonstrated support to classmates and a caring attitude to patients, satisfactory performance in the completion of clinical/ community experiences, and high academic achievement (B+ or greater). |
Mary-Joe Halliwell General Proficiency Award |
$500 |
Awarded to a graduating student who demonstrated high level of theoretical academic achievement (A range), ability to apply theory to clinical practice, and personal and professional growth. |
The R.N.A.O. Wellington Chapter Award |
$500 |
Awarded to a graduating student who demonstrates professional development through participation in professional Nursing Student Association Activities. The student is a student member of R.N.A.O. and participates in community based activities. |
Guelph General Hospital Auxilliary Award |
$300 |
Awarded to a full time, graduating student who is a resident of Waterloo-Wellington region and achieves the highest academic standing. |

The Clarence L. Starr Prize |

Awarded to a student who has completed Nursing I and attains the highest sessional average |
McKusker Nursing Scholarship |

Awarded to a student in Level III or IV who demonstrates excellence in scholarship and leadership. Preference given to Level IV students. (Students will be asked to submit an application package in early March) |

| Amy Margaret Burwell Campbell Memorial Bursary Award | $300 | One scholarship to be awarded in the BScN program for a mature student who has maintained a minimum of B and, in the judgment of the School of Nursing, has demonstrated exception achievements required to meet the defined criteria. |
